KHC devoured this book, A Star Is Found: Our Adventures Casting Some of Hollywood's Biggest Movies, after we met legendary casting directors, Jane Jenkins and Janet Hirshenson, on a trip to Hollywood for the Professional Actors Masterclass.
These two dynamos have cast such notable, academy award-winning films, as A Beautiful Mind and Frost/Nixon and other box office hits such as, The Holiday, The Davinci Code and Harry Potter & the Sorceror's Stone.
A Star Is Found: Our Adventures Casting Some of Hollywood's Biggest Moviesis a must-read for any actor who wants to know the 'ins and outs' of the casting process in Hollywood. It provides the bigger picture of the business side of filmmaking, how this affects the actor and the decision making process on any given film.
These ladies have worked with some of film's greatest directors, including Ron Howard and Rob Reiner. They cast Julia Roberts in her breakout role in Mystic Pizza. The stories in A Star Is Found: Our Adventures Casting Some of Hollywood's Biggest Moviesinclude major Hollywood stars, such as Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon and serve as Hollywood wisdom for actors wishing to understand the 'other side' of the casting process. Jane and Janet reveal the mystery of the casting process in this book and it is 'un-put-downable'.
KHC recommend this book to all actors wishing to learn more about the casting process, what makes you 'right for the role' and gain tips on how you can be more effective in your auditions and your business as an actor in general.
Happy reading!!!
